Rector

The Rector manages the work of the University. The mandate of the Rector lasts four years and he may be re-elected to the same position. The Rector may be elected from among the regular professors that are employed full time at higher education institutions. The Rector forms the Collegium whose goal is considering and taking positions on University matters. Members of the Collegium are: Rector, Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Vice Rector for scientific research , Vice Rector for international and inter-university cooperation, Student Vice Rector and the Secretary General.

Professor Radoslav Grujić, PhD

RADOSLAV GRUJIĆ was born on April 16, 1959 in Sokolac. He finished elementary school and high school in his birthplace. He graduated from the Department of Bio-technology and Food Engineering at the Faculty of Technology in Banja Luka in 1982. In 1983 he was named teaching assistant at the same faculty. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Technology at the University of Novi Sad, where he also defended his Magister's thesis. In 1989 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad. At the Faculty of Technology in Banja Luka, he was elected to the position of assistant professor (1989), associate professor (1994) and full-time professor (1999). He worked at the University of Banja Luka from 1983 and 2007 and held various functions: he was the Vice Rector for Scientific Research and International Cooperation (1996-2003), Dean of the Faculty of Technology (2003-2006) and the Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Technology (1991-1996). From 2008, he has worked at the University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Technology in Zvornik, as a full-time professor and head of the Department of Food Engineering and Technology. In 2010, he was named appointed Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, and in July 2014 he was named Acting Rector of the University.

As a visiting professor, he taught classes at postgraduate studies at the University of Sarajevo (Faculty of Agriculture) and the University of Tuzla (Faculty of Technology), and more than 20 times he was on the committee for the defense of doctoral dissertations at the Universities of Belgrade and Novi Sad.

In his work, he made a special contribution to the development of food engineering and food technology at the Universities of Banja Luka, East Sarajevo, Tuzla and Sarajevo, as well as to studies of human nutrition at the Universities of Banja Luka and Tuzla. At the Faculty of Technology in Banja Luka he developed a study to control food quality and safety, first such study in the region, which later served as a model for similar study programs at the Universities of Belgrade and Novi Sad.

Through his participation in the work of the Council for Higher Education Development and Improvement of Quality of Higher Education in the Republic of Srpska, several committees of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Srpska and the Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Advancement of Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he made a contribution to the development of higher education in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He has accomplished outstanding results in strengthening cooperation between the faculties and industry through the transfer of knowledge in the field of food technology and food engineering, increasing the quality and safety of food products; he was the first to implement a new system of food safety management (HACCP) in the food industry in the region.

After defending his doctoral dissertation, he spent time in residency at universities in several countries (United States, England, France, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Serbia and Portugal). One of his biggest contributions is the success in international cooperation and the implementation of international projects. He is the author or co-author of 28 books, 14 of which are used as textbooks at several universities in the Republic of Srpska and countries of the region: The Science of Human Nutrition - Book One and Book Two; The Quality and Analysis of Food - Book One and Book Two; Introduction to Food Processing and Storage Technology, Development of New Food Products, Poultry Meat Processing Technology, Vitamins and Minerals in Human Nutrition. Six of his monographs were published in English language: HACCP - Theory and Practice; Food Safety: Information and Education of Consumers; Food Safety Management - The Role of Food Safety Knowledge; a chapter in the monograph "Selected Topics on Food Science and Technology" and a chapter in the monograph "Insight in Food Safety" (Nova Science Publishers, Inc., Hauppauge, NY), and his book "HACCP - Theory and Practice" was translated into Georgian language.

Grujić also made a contribution to the development of education through reviews of 10 books and monographs, as well as membership in editorial boards of 4 scientific journals of international significance. He has published around 200 scientific papers and has over one hundred citations in international journals, as well as over 50 monographs and textbooks published worldwide (the majority of them in English).

He is fluent in spoken and written English and Russian language.
