FACULTY OF LAW ORGANIZED THE BIGGEST SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE IN THE FIELD OF LEGAL SCIENCES IN FORMER YUGOSLAVIA

On Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Faculty of Law hosted the XI Scientific Conference on the occasion of the Day of the Faculty of Law, on the general topic “Law between Creation and Interpretation”. The Conference was attended by 177 authors and co-authors, from four continents, from 20 countries (Russia, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Romania, Belgium, Finland, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina with authors from the Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) who presented 151 papers in Serbian, Russian, English, Italian, or the native languages ​​of the participants.

According to number of authors, the countries they came from, the number of papers, as well as the number and importance of co-organizers, the Scientific Conference on the occasion of the Day of the Faculty of Law is the largest scientific conference in the field of legal sciences that has been held in former Yugoslavia in the last two years and is one of the largest conferences in Europe. The co-organizers of the scientific conference are the European Public Law Organization, the International Union of Lawyers, the Institute for Comparative Law, the Institute for Criminological and Sociological Research, and the Serbian Association for Criminal Law Theory and Practice, whose representatives participated in the work of the conference. On behalf of the co-organizers, the Conference was addressed by the president of the European Public Law Organization Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, president of the Serbian Association for Criminal Law Theory and Practice, president of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Criminological and Sociological Research and a member of the Presidency of the International Union of Lawyers academician professor Stanko Bejatović, and the Director of the Institute for Comparative Law Professor Vladimir Čolović.

About half of the reports were announced live in the premises of the Faculty of Law in Pale, while the rest was announced online, via the Zoom platform. The work took place at a plenary session where prominent lawyers of European and world renown gave their introductory papers. This was followed by work on eight sections that took place simultaneously with live and online work. In the end, the gathering was concluded with thanks to all participants and co-organizers with the desire for continued cooperation in the years ahead.

The scientific Conference that was held is a proof of the regional, European and global reputation of the Faculty of Law of the University of East Sarajevo. The trust shown to the Faculty of Law by international scientific research organizations and associations with their co-organization, as well as prominent lawyers of world reputation with their participation in the conference, showed that our faculty has become one of the most serious and reputable institutions in the field of legal sciences in the area of ​​South-Eastern Europe but also more widely.

The holding of the XI Scientific Conference on the occasion of the Day of the Faculty of Law was supported by the President of the Republika Srpska, Mr. Milorad Dodik, the Ministry of Science and Technology Development, Higher Education and Information Society of the Republika Srpska, the Bar Association of the Republika Srpska, the Notary Chamber of the Republika Srpska, and several local governments.
