Academy of Music

The Academy of Music began to work in the academic 1994/1995 in Ilidza and in 1996 it was moved to East Sarajevo, where it is located today. Classes are held on the first and second study cycles. Students, apart from Republic of Srpska and BiH, come in large number from Serbia and Montenegro. The exceptional results of students and professors of the Academy of Music, as well as numerous awards and recognitions, in the best way reflect the quality of education provided by the Academy of Music of the University of East Sarajevo.

During 22 years of existence, the Academy has grown into a serious artistic institution. Its performance and results significantly contributes to the affirmation of musical art in general, representing the University, Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the country and internationally. This affirmation is achieved through a rich concert activity of students and professors of the Academy at the national and international concert scene, participating in national and international competitions, festivals, joint projects of music academies from countries in the region, participating of the teaching staff of the Academy in the work of the jury in national and international competitions, activities at international congresses and scientific conferences, as well as successful cooperation with local cultural institutions, international organizations and diplomatic and consular missions as well as various media.

The exceptional results have been achieved by the chamber choir which was established under the Church Music and Chanting study program, unique of its kind in the Balkans. The choir has a very rich concert activity. It has gained a great reputation internationally and won the most prizes and awards at many prestigious international competitions and festivals.

The renown and reputation, achieved through the excellent results and membership in several international associations and organizations, enabled the Academy of Music to become the organizer of one of the major European festivals for solo accordion in the field of academic music “Akordeon art”, which is organized every year.

The Academy has signed agreements and protocols on cooperation with numerous related academies from BiH, the region, Europe and the world, with the special emphasis on intensive cooperation with the prestigious Russian academies and institutes. Within the framework of cooperation, mobility of students and teachers with similar academies, as well as numerous lectures by eminent lecturer and world famous composer have been realized.

The Academy of Music organizes numerous seminars, concerts and musical workshops of eminent educators and artists from the country and abroad: Canada, Spain, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, USA, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, which is a valuable contribution to raising and improving the quality of teaching and artistic process.
