Minister Seranic visited the Rectorate of the University of East Sarajevo

The meeting of the Minister of Science and Technology of Republic of Srpska Dr. Alen Seranic and the Rector of the University of East Sarajevo Prof. Dr Stevo Pasalic with associates was held in the Rectorate of the University of East Sarajevo today.

The current cooperation between the University and the Ministry, as well as joint activities planned in the future period were discussed at the meeting.

Rector Pasalic, together with his associates, informed Minister Seranic that, in April 2018, the Senate of the University adopted the document “Road Map for the Improvement and Recognition of Scientific Research Work 2018-2020”, with an action plan, which should contribute to raising the quality of scientific research work, as well as visibility and recognition of the University of East Sarajevo.

The need for more intensive cooperation of the University with the economy, especially on finding ways to make more efficient use of the modern scientific-research equipment owned by the University of East Sarajevo was also tackled.

One of the topics discussed was the harmonization of the rules on the selection of teachers and associate professors, as well as the rules on the categorization of scientific journals and scientific conferences.

Also, the successful participation of the University of East Sarajevo in international projects, especially those with educational and developmental character, and the need for more intensive involvement in scientific-research projects were among the meeting topics.

Minister Seranic emphasized that the Ministry of Science and Technology and the University of East Sarajevo traditionally had very successful cooperation, and expressed the belief that the cooperation would be even more efficient between these two institutions and in direct communication with the economy.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister for Science Dr Sinisa Marcic, Vice-Rector for Teaching Professor Vera Cevriz-Nisic, Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Development Professor Sinisa Berjan and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Quality Assurance Prof. Dr Dejan Bokonjic.
