Call for Applications for Admission to the University of East Sarajevo for the Academic Year 2026/2027
The University of East Sarajevo announces the Call for Applications for admission to the first year of first-cycle (undergraduate), second-cycle (master’s), and third-cycle (doctoral) studies for the 2026/2027 academic year.
A total of 2,218 study places are available, including:
- 1,417 state-funded places
- 252 self-financed places
- 380 places for international students
- 169 part-time study places
Prospective students may choose from 55 first-cycle study programmes, 56 second-cycle study programmes, and 15 third-cycle study programmes offered across the University’s faculties and academies.
First-Cycle Studies (Undergraduate Programmes)
Applications for admission to the first year of first-cycle studies will be accepted from 22 June to 26 June 2026 at all constituent faculties and academies of the University of East Sarajevo.
Candidates applying to all faculties and academies, with the exception of the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, may also submit their applications electronically via the University’s e-Student platform from 22 June to 27 June 2026. Applicants who submit their applications online are required to present the original application documents on the day of the entrance examination.
The entrance examination will be held on 29 June 2026 at 09:00.
At the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, the Music Academy in East Sarajevo, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Trebinje, entrance examinations will be conducted on 29 and 30 June 2026, commencing at 09:00 each day.
For the study programmes in Dentistry, Special Education and Rehabilitation, and Nursing, the entrance examination will take place on 29 June 2026 at 09:00, while the entrance examination for the Medicine programme will be held on 30 June 2026 at 09:00.
English-Taught Programmes
Applications for the following English-taught programmes at the Faculty of Medicine in Foča will be accepted from 15 June to 26 June 2026:
- Medicine (English-taught programme)
- Dentistry (English-taught programme)
- Nursing (English-taught programme)

Applications for English-taught programmes at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, East Sarajevo, will be accepted from 15 June to 26 June 2026 via kontakt@etf.ues.rs.ba. The online entrance examination will be held on 3 July 2026 at 09:00.
Applications for the English-taught programme Chemical Engineering and Technology at the Faculty of Technology in Zvornik will be accepted from 15 June to 26 June 2026 via studsluzbatfzv@gmail.com. The online entrance examination will be held on 3 July 2026 at 09:00.
Enrolment of Admitted Candidates
Enrolment of successful applicants will take place from 6 July to 10 July 2026.
Faculties and academies that do not fill the planned number of study places during the first admission round will organise a second admission round. The Call for Applications for the second admission round will be published on 12 August 2026.
If vacancies remain after the second admission round, faculties and academies may organise a third admission round according to their own schedules, provided that all enrolment procedures are completed by 30 September 2026.
Second-Cycle (Master’s) and Third-Cycle (Doctoral) Studies
Applications for admission to second-cycle and third-cycle study programmes will be accepted from 22 June to 16 October 2026.
At the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, applications for second-cycle studies will be accepted from 22 June to 30 September 2026.
Applications may also be submitted electronically through the University’s e-Student platform, except for programmes offered by the Faculty of Medicine in Foča. Candidates applying online are required to submit the original documentation when attending the entrance examination.
Where an entrance examination is prescribed for admission to second-cycle studies, it will be held on 19 October 2026 at 09:00.
For study programmes that do not require an entrance examination, candidates will be ranked according to their academic performance achieved during first-cycle studies.
Faculties and academies that do not fill the planned number of places during the first admission round may organise a second admission round, provided that all admissions procedures are completed by 13 November 2026.
Admission Requirements
First-Cycle Studies
The minimum requirement for admission to first-cycle studies is the completion of four-year secondary education in Bosnia and Herzegovina or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad.
All applicants are required to take an entrance examination and/or an aptitude assessment, where applicable.
Second-Cycle Studies
Admission to second-cycle programmes carrying 60 ECTS credits is open to candidates who have completed a relevant first-cycle academic programme and obtained at least 240 ECTS credits.
Admission to second-cycle programmes carrying 120 ECTS credits is open to candidates who have completed a relevant first-cycle academic programme and obtained at least 180 ECTS credits.
Third-Cycle Studies
Admission to third-cycle (doctoral) studies is open to candidates who:
- Have completed second-cycle academic studies or integrated studies with a minimum of 300 ECTS credits;
- Have achieved a minimum average grade of 8.00/10.00 during previous studies;
- Demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language;
- Fulfil any additional requirements prescribed by the relevant faculty or academy.
Equal Access to Higher Education
Access to all study programmes offered by the University of East Sarajevo is guaranteed on the principles of equality, transparency, and open competition.
Applicants who completed their secondary education abroad are required to obtain formal recognition of their qualifications from the competent authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina prior to enrolment. Qualifications obtained in the Republic of Serbia are recognised in accordance with the applicable bilateral agreement on the mutual recognition of educational documents.
Tuition-Free Education and Student Accommodation
In accordance with the legislation of Republika Srpska, tuition fees are waived for eligible full-time students enrolled in first-cycle and second-cycle study programmes who are financed from the Republic budget and who progress regularly through their studies without repeating an academic year.
Student accommodation in residence halls within Republika Srpska is provided free of charge to students who meet the eligibility criteria. Accommodation costs are fully funded by the Government of Republika Srpska in accordance with the applicable regulations governing student welfare and support.
