Practical Training for Accreditation Experts Held

The Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HEA B&H), with the support of the Office for Quality Assurance and the Rectorate of the University of East Sarajevo, organized a practical training for accreditation experts on November 4.

The aim of the training was to prepare national experts — representatives of the academic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the business sector, and students — for the accreditation process. The focus was on the consistent application of established procedures at all stages of the process, transparent and evidence-based evaluation of accreditation criteria, and the preparation of high-quality external evaluation reports for higher education institutions and study programs.

Participants had previously completed theoretical training, which covered the legal framework and higher education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina (terminology, procedures, stakeholders), the application of accreditation criteria, report writing, and professional conduct throughout the accreditation process.

During the practical training, participants went through the key phases of an accreditation site visit — from analyzing a self-evaluation report using a sample criterion, organizing and conducting a preparatory meeting of the expert panel, to interviewing representatives of the higher education institution and finally presenting the oral report that concludes the expert visit.

After completing the practical exercise, participants received feedback highlighting strengths and identified areas for improvement, along with recommendations for addressing potential challenges during future accreditation procedures.
