Representatives of the University of East Sarajevo are on an official working visit to Jiangsu University in the People’s Republic of China, as part of activities related to the establishment and development of a joint laboratory for smart agricultural technologies and equipment.
During the visit, the 2026 Meeting of the Governing Board and Academic Committee was held regarding the establishment of the China–BiH Joint Laboratory under the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the Synergistic Innovation Center for Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology, jointly supported by Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education of the PR China.
The delegation of the University of East Sarajevo includes Prof. Jelena Krunić, PhD, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Artistic Work; Prof. Marko Gutalj, PhD, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Quality Assurance; and Prof. Vesna Milić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
During the meeting, the Rector of Jiangsu University, Prof. Zou Xiaobo, presented the “Letter of Appointment” to Prof. Milan Kulić, PhD, officially confirming his appointment as a member of the Council of the China–BiH Joint Laboratory under the Belt and Road Initiative for Smart Agricultural Technologies and Equipment.
The meeting was attended by members of:
- the Council of the China–BiH Joint Laboratory under the Belt and Road Initiative (in establishment)
- the Academic Committee of the China–BiH Joint Laboratory (in establishment)
- the Council of the Synergistic Innovation Center for Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology (Phase IV), jointly supported by Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education
- the Academic Committee of the Synergistic Innovation Center for Modern Agricultural Equipment and Technology (Phase IV)
As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the high-tech company “Jiangsu LongMembrane High-Tech Co.”, which specializes in advanced filtration systems applied in industry and environmental protection.
Representatives of Jiangsu University organized the visit to this factory, with which they maintain intensive cooperation. The aim of the visit was to become acquainted with the equipment and explore possibilities for its integration into the joint laboratory for smart agricultural technologies and equipment, jointly implemented by the University of East Sarajevo and Jiangsu University.
“Jiangsu LongMembrane High-Tech Co.” is a specialized engineering and technology company developing advanced filtration systems. Its products are used in the chemical and food industries, wastewater treatment, and environmental protection. The company is closely connected with research institutions and invests significantly in scientific research and innovation. It is part of China’s so-called “green tech” sector, and is headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
The University of East Sarajevo and Jiangsu University have already established cooperation formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023 and an agreement on the joint laboratory signed in 2025.
Jiangsu University is ranked among the top 100 universities in the People’s Republic of China, which has more than 3,000 higher education institutions, and is one of the leading universities in the fields of food science and agriculture.
